Hands up if you love chocolate! 🙋♀️ Try this amped up version, made with chia seeds, milk, and cocoa. Chia seeds are a great source of both protein and fibre (my favourite combo!), as well as a source of heart-healthy omega-3 fats. And their jelly-like consistency makes them a great addition to many recipes - try them in smoothies, oatmeal, or as a topping on yogurt.
Recipe to make 4 servings:
1/3 cup chia seeds
1 cup milk (I used 2% but any kind works)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Maple syrup to taste (I added 2 Tbsp)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Mix all ingredients in a covered bowl or mason jar, and set in fridge overnight, or minimum 5-6 hours. If you like a smoother consistency, use a blender to mix.
I added sliced strawberries to these ones, as well as 4-6 chocolate chips to each serving because everything is better with more chocolate.
Each serving provides 215 calories, 9g of fibre, and 8g of protein.
