How to love yourself during a global crisis in 3 simple steps.
Self-love is so important to physical and emotional wellbeing and this is backed by science and epigenetics.
However, when the world seems upside down and we feel afraid, it may become less of a priority to love ourselves through the madness.
If the term self-love seems self-indulgent or foreign that's ok, society has encouraged people to play small, be overly modest and self-deprecating for a long time now.
So here are 3 simple steps to rekindle the flame you have for yourself.
1. The first 20.
The first 20 minutes will set the tone for your day and your life is a product of the things you do daily.
Whether it is drinking hot lemon water or talking to your plants, spend your first 20 minutes doing something that really nourishes you or makes you feel alive.
2. Look forward not sideways.
When we compare our lives to other people it's easy to feel inadequate (especially on social media, which is a warped display of how people really live).
You do you, if you aren't doing home school, Pythagoras and ice sculpting with your toddlers you are completely awesome.
If you don't have your sh*t together, welcome to 99.99999999% of the population.
3. Eat happy foods.
Backed by science, some of the best foods for uplifting our moods include fatty fish, bananas, oats, turkey, berries, nuts and seeds.
It's much easier to appreciate ourselves when we are feeling physically strong and emotionally steady.
There you have it, 3 simple ways to nourish yourself during this crazy time.
If you have any self-love practices I would love to hear, they may inspire other people too.
